April 24, 2025– Following the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor urged the nation to set aside political differences and focus on supporting the government in its efforts to combat terrorism. Speaking on Thursday, Tharoor emphasized that this was not the time for domestic blame games, but rather a moment for unified action against the terrorists responsible and their Pakistani handlers.

“It is not the time for a domestic blame game. Islamist terrorists and their Pakistani handlers need to be destroyed,” Tharoor asserted. “We must all support our government in doing whatever it deems necessary to achieve this.”

The attack, which took place in a meadow near Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, left at least 26 people dead, most of them tourists, with several others injured. The tragedy has sparked outrage and renewed concerns over security in the region.

In his statement, Tharoor also reaffirmed India’s commitment to Kashmiri integration and communal harmony, stressing that such values must remain unshaken in the face of violence. “India’s commitment to Kashmiri integration and the preservation of communal harmony must not be diluted by acts of terror,” he said.

Tharoor’s comments come at a time when the nation is grappling with the aftermath of the attack and seeking solutions to prevent further violence. The Congress leader’s call for national solidarity underscores the need for all political factions to unite against the common threat posed by terrorism.

As the government moves forward with its response to the attack, Tharoor’s message of unity and support for decisive action against terrorism is likely to resonate across the political spectrum.
