SRINAGAR: National Conference (NC) MP Aga Ruhullah Mehdi staged a walkout during the party’s first working committee meeting following the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, The Print reported. The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, turned contentious after Ruhullah openly criticized the party’s stance on key issues, particularly its handling of Article 370.
Sources said Ruhullah accused the NC leadership of drifting ideologically and becoming too aligned with New Delhi’s narrative. “He expressed deep disappointment over the party’s current direction and confronted the working committee before walking out in protest,” a party insider told the portal.
The meeting was initially convened to discuss the NC’s political strategy and organizational matters post-election, but quickly descended into discord amid Ruhullah’s sharp remarks.
