May 25: India has overtaken Japan to become the world’s fourth-largest economy, according to a recent announcement by Union Minister Jitendra Singh. Citing the achievement as a landmark moment, Singh tweeted: “India overtakes Japan, becomes world’s 4th largest economy. A rapid stride, a giant leap…towards #ViksitBharat. Thanks PM Modi for making this happen.”

The statement marks a major milestone in India’s economic journey, placing it just behind the United States, China, and Germany in terms of nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The development reflects the country’s sustained economic growth and resilience in the face of global challenges.
