Srinagar, May 24: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case of disproportionate assets against Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat, son of Late Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, a resident of Firdousabad, Batamaloo, Srinagar. Bhat is currently serving as Nazir in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar.

The case (FIR No. 09/2025) has been filed under Section 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, following a discreet verification of Bhat’s financial transactions and property holdings. The probe revealed that he possesses assets grossly disproportionate to his known sources of income.

According to the ACB, the assets in question include a residential house and an additional structure on 17.5 marlas of land in Batamaloo, and two plots measuring 10 and 13 marlas at Mouza Nowgam. Movable assets such as luxury vehicles—a Toyota Fortuner, Maruti Wagon-R, and Renault Duster—were also identified.

Investigators noted substantial unexplained expenditures on his children’s higher education and suspicious transactions across multiple bank accounts. The family was also found to be operating several bank lockers and owning multiple immovable properties of significant value. His lifestyle, the ACB stated, was not in line with his declared income.

Following the FIR, search warrants were obtained and raids were conducted at Bhat’s residence and other related premises. The searches, carried out in the presence of Executive Magistrates and assisted by local police, led to the recovery of incriminating documents related to both movable and immovable assets.

Further investigation is ongoing, the ACB said.
