Srinagar, April 24: Shikara walas on Thursday staged a silent protest in Srinagar against the recent deadly attack in Pahalgam. In a poignant display of solidarity with the victims, the iconic wooden boats on Dal Lake were seen hoisting black flags, silently gliding through the water as a mark of mourning and resistance.
On April 22, 2025, a devastating terrorist attack occurred in the Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam, Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir, India. Seven militants, affiliated with The Resistance Front (TRF)—an offshoot of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba—opened fire on tourists, resulting in the deaths of at least 28 individuals and injuries to over 20 others. This incident stands as one of the deadliest attacks on civilians in India since the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
