Reasi, J&K – In response to the rising water levels in the Chenab River, the authorities have taken precautionary steps by opening the gates of the Salal Dam. The decision comes after continuous rainfall in the upper catchment areas, which has led to a significant increase in the water inflow.

Local officials are closely monitoring the situation, ensuring that the water release is controlled to avoid any downstream flooding. The opening of the dam gates is a safety measure to manage the excess water and to prevent any potential damage to surrounding areas.

The public has been advised to stay alert and follow safety instructions issued by local authorities. The district administration has also urged residents living in low-lying areas near the riverbanks to remain cautious and evacuate if necessary.

Authorities are continuing to assess the situation, with emergency response teams on standby. The opening of the gates is a standard procedure to mitigate the risks associated with heavy rainfall and rising water levels during the monsoon season.
