Srinagar/Jammu, April 21, 2025 – The Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police Headquarters has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory for travelers planning to travel on key routes across the region on April 22, 2025. Due to adverse weather conditions and ongoing restoration work, several major roads will experience delays and closures, significantly impacting vehicular movement.

Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) Suspended

The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) will remain closed for vehicular movement tomorrow, as restoration work on the road has not been completed. Travelers are strongly advised to avoid the Jammu-Srinagar NHW until the restoration work is finalized and the surface is deemed traffic-worthy.

Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag Road Closed Due to Snowfall

The Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road (NH-244) has been closed due to fresh snowfall, with no current updates on when it will reopen. Authorities are awaiting a green signal from the National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) before allowing any vehicular movement.

SSG Road: One-Way Traffic Permitted

Traffic on the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road (SSG road) will be subject to fair weather conditions and road maintenance updates from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). Only light motor vehicles (LMVs) fitted with anti-skid chains, followed by heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) with six tyres, will be allowed from Kargil towards Srinagar. Vehicles will be permitted to move from Minamarg until 1:30 PM. No vehicles will be allowed after the cut-off time.

Mughal Road: Restricted Movement for LMVs

Subject to favorable weather conditions and road conditions approved by the General Reserve Engineering Force (GREF), passenger and private cars (LMVs) will be permitted to travel on the Mughal road, connecting Jammu and Srinagar via Poonch. These vehicles can travel from Behramgala (Baffliaz) and Herpora (Shopian) from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Cut-Off Timings for LMVs

To ensure safe travel, strict cut-off timings have been established for vehicles traveling from both Jammu and Srinagar. No vehicles will be allowed after these designated times.

From Jammu Side:

  • Akhnoor: 10:00 AM
  • Bhambla: 11:00 AM
  • Rajouri: 1:00 PM
  • Manjakote: 1:30 PM
  • Surankote: 2:30 PM
  • Behramgala: 3:00 PM

From Srinagar Side:

  • TRC Srinagar: 12:30 PM
  • Nowgam Peaks: 1:00 PM
  • Pantha Chowk: 1:00 PM
  • Chandhara Pampore: 2:00 PM
  • Galandar via Kakapora: 2:00 PM
  • Marvel Crossing: 2:00 PM
  • Kandizal (Peaks NH-44): 2:00 PM
  • Khudwani: 2:00 PM
  • Chawalgam Kulgam: 2:15 PM
  • Keegam NH-44: 2:30 PM
  • Herpora: 3:00 PM

Road Closures and Restrictions

  • Bhaderwah-Chamba Road remains closed due to snow accumulation, with no clear timeline for reopening.
  • Thanamandi-DKG-Baffliaz route will remain closed, with no vehicles allowed.
