Shopian, May 26: In a major crackdown under the ongoing #NashaMuktJKAbhiyan, District Police Shopian has booked three habitual drug peddlers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act for their repeated involvement in drug trafficking activities.

According to police officials, the accused were found continuously engaged in the illegal narcotics trade despite repeated action against them in the past. Acting firmly against the drug menace, the police detained the accused and lodged them in different jails to prevent them from continuing unlawful activities.

Police said the action forms part of the sustained campaign launched to eliminate drug abuse and trafficking from the district. The department reiterated its commitment to making society drug-free and urged the public, especially the youth, to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in the fight against narcotics.

Officials further stated that strict legal action will continue against individuals involved in drug peddling and other anti-social activities across the district.
