Srinagar, May 26: Ahead of the forthcoming Eid-ul-Adha celebrations and the annual Amarnath Yatra 2026, Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat has directed all field formations to intensify security arrangements across the Union Territory to ensure peaceful festivities and a secure pilgrimage.
According to official directions issued during a high-level security review meeting, police units have been instructed to strengthen area domination measures, increase night patrolling, and maintain heightened surveillance in vulnerable locations. The DGP emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among security agencies to prevent any untoward incidents during the twin occasions, which witness large public gatherings and heavy movement of pilgrims.
Special focus has been laid on the deployment of anti-sabotage teams along the pilgrimage routes, religious places, transit camps, and other sensitive locations. Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS), sniffer dog units, and Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) are expected to remain on high alert throughout the Yatra period and Eid festivities.
