May 23: Manoj Sinha on Saturday flagged off a massive anti-drug rally in Shopian, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to eradicating the drug menace from the Union Territory.

The rally witnessed participation from hundreds of citizens, youth, officials, and members of civil society who joined the padyatra to spread awareness against substance abuse and promote a drug-free society.

Speaking about the event, the Lieutenant Governor shared a message on X, stating:

“Today, in Shopian citizens united in a massive Padyatra, pledging their commitment to a drug-free J&K. With unwavering voices, they vowed that narcotics-terrorists will be driven out from every corner of UT. This collective resolve heralds the dawn of a new era.”

The rally was organised as part of the ongoing campaign against drug abuse in Jammu and Kashmir, with participants carrying placards and raising slogans highlighting the dangers of narcotics and the need for collective action.

Officials said the initiative aims to mobilise communities, especially the youth, in the fight against drugs and to strengthen public participation in awareness and prevention programmes across the region.
