Srinagar Records –4.4°C as Cold Wave Tightens Grip on Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 30: Cold wave conditions intensified across Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, with most regions recording sub-zero temperatures, according to data from Kashmir Weather.

In the Kashmir Valley, Shopian was the coldest at –6.6°C, followed by Baramulla (–6.4°C), and Anantnag and Pampore (–6.0°C). Srinagar settled at –4.4°C, while Pahalgam recorded –5.6°C and Kupwara –5.0°C. Gulmarg logged a minimum of –1.4°C. Temperatures at Zojila plummeted to –15°C.

In the Jammu division, most areas stayed above freezing. Jammu recorded 8.8°C, Katra 9.0°C, and Jammu Airport 8.3°C. Banihal, however, dipped to –0.7°C, making it the coldest in the region.

Ladakh continued to witness severe cold, with Nyoma at –16.3°C, the lowest in the region, followed by Upshi (–12.8°C), Tangste (–12.7°C), and Padum (–12.6°C). Drass recorded –12.4°C, while Leh and Kargil settled at –9.2°C and –8.5°C respectively.

Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious during early morning and late evening hours as freezing conditions persist.
