New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday inaugurated the 3rd International Kite Festival at Baansera Park in the national capital, highlighting India’s deep-rooted tradition of festivals and their role in uniting society.

Addressing the gathering, Shah said that the kite festival is closely associated with farmers, marking, in a way, the beginning of their New Year. He underscored the cultural significance of festivals in India, quoting renowned poet Kalidasa, who described Indians as “utsav-priya janah”—people who are fond of celebrations.

“India is a land where festivals are celebrated in every season and at all times. Through these festivals, we bring the entire society together and move forward with a collective vision,” Shah said. He added that Uttarayan, celebrated with kite flying, is an integral part of this long-standing tradition.
