Budgam, Thursday:
Budgam Police on Thursday arrested two alleged drug peddlers near the Karipora Railway Crossing and recovered a charas-like substance along with a mobile phone from their possession.
According to police sources, the arrests were made during a routine naka (checkpoint) checking in the area. The recovered contraband is suspected to be charas, though its exact quantity and composition will be confirmed after forensic examination.
In this connection, FIR No. 347/2025 under relevant sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Budgam, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the contraband and possible links to a wider drug network.
Police have reiterated their commitment to continue strict action against drug trafficking to curb the menace of narcotics in the district.
