Ganderbal, J&K: In a major counter-terrorism breakthrough, Jammu and Kashmir Police in District Ganderbal arrested two terror associates and recovered arms, ammunition, and cash amounting to ₹8.40 lakh during a late-evening operation on Thursday.
The operation was carried out by Police Station Ganderbal in coordination with the Special Operations Group (SOG) near Gundrehman Bridge. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the police intercepted a load carrier bearing registration number JK15B-7309 during routine naka checking.
A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of the following incriminating materials:
- One Chinese-made pistol
- One pistol magazine
- Four pistol rounds
- Two hand grenades
- Cash amounting to ₹8,40,500
The arrested individuals have been identified as Ghulam Nabi Mir, son of Mohammad Subhan Mir, a resident of Hajin, District Bandipora, and Shabnum Nazir, daughter of Nazir Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Shalabugh, District Ganderbal.
Following the recovery, a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Arms Act at Police Station Ganderbal. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the recovered arms and cash, the motive behind their possession, and any possible terror linkages.
Ganderbal Police reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and security in the district and appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to anti-national or criminal activities.
