Srinagar, Dec 20:
The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast light to moderate snowfall over higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, with sub-freezing temperatures likely to create slippery road conditions at important mountain passes.

According to the weather update issued by the Meteorological Centre Srinagar (@metsrinagar), there is a possibility of light to moderate snow over the higher reaches of the Kashmir division, while light rain is expected at many places across Jammu and Kashmir from the late night of December 20 till the late afternoon or evening of December 21.

The advisory warned that snowfall combined with freezing temperatures may lead to slippery roads, particularly over higher reaches and key passes, potentially affecting traffic movement. Travelers and transporters have been advised to strictly follow traffic and administrative advisories during this period.

The weather is expected to improve slightly on December 22, with light snowfall likely only at isolated higher reaches of the region.

Authorities have urged commuters to remain vigilant, check road conditions before travel, and avoid unnecessary movement in vulnerable areas during adverse weather conditions.
