New Delhi:
Member of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmed and Member of Legislative Assembly Nazir Gurezi on Tuesday met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, to discuss the long-pending demand for the Gurez National Highway.

During the meeting, the leaders highlighted the strategic and developmental importance of the highway, stating that improved road connectivity is crucial for the socio-economic progress of the remote Gurez region. They apprised the Union Minister of the hardships faced by residents due to poor and seasonal connectivity.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured them that the matter would be examined seriously. He said that the Ministry would take the best possible steps to move the proposal forward in accordance with technical and administrative feasibility.

The assurance from the Union Minister has raised fresh hope among the people of Gurez, who have been demanding all-weather road connectivity for years. Improved infrastructure is expected to boost development, tourism, and access to essential services in the border region.

The leaders expressed optimism that the Centre’s positive response would soon translate into concrete action on the ground.
