SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 15: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, on Monday reviewed the progress of operationalisation of the 60 MLD Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) for Srinagar city and assessed the status of the tendering process for utilities shifting required to connect lane-level drainage with the sewerage system under the Greater Srinagar Sewerage Scheme (JnNURM).
The review meeting was attended by Chief Engineers of KPDCL and PWD, Superintending Engineers from the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department and Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED), Deputy Director Planning, and officers from NBCC.
During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner emphasised the need to expedite and complete the tendering process for utilities shifting associated with the construction of connecting drainage portions of the UEED network. He underlined that timely completion of these works is crucial for ensuring effective integration of the sewerage infrastructure with the STP.
Superintending Engineer, UEED, informed the meeting that the process of connecting households to the trunk sewer line leading to the STP would be completed by January 5, enabling optimal utilisation of the installed treatment capacity.
The Divisional Commissioner also directed the concerned departments to ensure timely power connection to the Sewerage Treatment Plant at Noorbagh and to complete the outfall line without further delay.
Additionally, he instructed the concerned authorities to identify and project bottlenecks affecting ongoing works in Alamgiri Bazar, Zadibal, and Habakadal for deliberation in the forthcoming High-Level Committee meeting.
The review underscored the administration’s commitment to strengthening Srinagar’s sewerage infrastructure and improving environmental sanitation in the city.
