Srinagar, Oct 4 (KNS): The Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir has booked several individuals for circulating a forged National Health Mission (NHM) selection list in J&K.
Officials said the case was filed after a fake order, titled “Provisional Selection List of Candidates for Different Posts (Kashmir Division)” against a 2021 notification, surfaced on social media, falsely bearing the Mission Director’s signature.
Preliminary probe revealed that during the COVID-19 pandemic, an NGO—J&K Health Care Services—approved for voluntary services, collected money and documents from aspirants, promising permanent jobs under NHM. The accused later fabricated the selection list.
The accused include Abdul Qayoom Naik (Tangmarg), Abdul Qayoom Khan (Budgam), Mohammad Ashraf Hurrah (Srinagar), Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi (Bandipora), and Hilal Ahmad Bahar (Bandipora).
They face charges under sections 420, 468, 471, 120-B RPC, and 66-D IT Act. Investigation is ongoing.
