Budgam, Oct 26 (KNS): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the National Conference (NC) during a workers’ convention in Budgam, accusing the party of betraying public trust and neglecting the constituency.
Extending full support to PDP candidate Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi, Mehbooba described him as a “sincere and people-centric leader who has always stood by his community.”
She blamed the Omar Abdullah-led government for the repression of Kashmiri youth, alleging that “thousands were jailed, and ordinary people were pushed to the wall.”
Accusing Omar Abdullah of abandoning Budgam after winning from the constituency, she said, “Budgam gave him a historic mandate, but he repaid it with silence and indifference.”
Mehbooba said NC had long used Budgam as a stepping stone to power while ignoring its development. She urged people to rally behind Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi and PDP’s vision of dignity, justice, and accountable leadership.
“Real change will come only when power returns to those who truly feel the pain of the people,” she added.
