Bengaluru, June 4:
Celebrations turned tragic on Tuesday evening as a stampede outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru claimed the lives of three individuals during Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) victory march. The deceased have been identified as two men and one woman. Several others sustained injuries in the incident.

According to eyewitnesses, the stampede occurred after thousands of fans gathered around the stadium to catch a glimpse of their favourite players following RCB’s recent triumph. The situation spiralled out of control when the stadium gates were briefly opened, prompting a sudden surge in the crowd. In the chaos, several individuals were trampled, and some reportedly lost consciousness due to suffocation and overcrowding.

Police personnel at the site struggled to manage the overwhelming crowd, estimated to be in the lakhs. Emergency services were rushed to the scene, and the injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Authorities have urged citizens to avoid the area and cooperate with law enforcement to ensure public safety. An investigation into the incident is currently underway, and additional security measures are being considered for future public events.
