Srinagar, Oct 11: Minister Sakeena Itoo on Sunday emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between scientific institutions and farmers to achieve sustainable agricultural growth. She was speaking at the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Pombay.

Highlighting the pivotal role of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Kashmir (SKUAST-K), the minister lauded its contributions to agricultural innovation, the development of climate-resilient crops, and continued support to farmers. She said such efforts are vital to ensuring prosperity and self-reliance in the farming community.

Under the visionary leadership of @OmarAbdullah, she added, the government remains committed to empowering farmers with modern technologies, scientific knowledge, and improved farming practices that align with environmental sustainability.

“The collaboration between scientists and farmers is not just necessary—it is the foundation of a resilient and prosperous agricultural sector,” Itoo remarked, urging greater outreach from research institutions to rural farming communities.

The event witnessed the participation of agricultural experts, local farmers, and officials who discussed strategies to enhance productivity and strengthen the agricultural ecosystem in the region.
