SRINAGAR, April 20: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has decided to suspend classwork in all government and private schools across the Kashmir Valley on Monday, April 21, 2025, as a precautionary measure in response to ongoing harsh weather conditions.
An official directive issued by the Divisional Commissioner’s Office stated that the suspension only applies to student attendance. All teaching and non-teaching personnel are expected to attend work as usual.
The move aims to prioritize student safety while ensuring the smooth functioning of school operations.
Education, Social Welfare, and Health and Medical Education Minister Sakeena Itoo confirmed the development via a post on X, stating, “Due to persistent severe weather and forecasts indicating no immediate improvement, schools across the Valley will remain closed for students on April 21. This is a preventive measure taken in the interest of student safety.”
Authorities have called for full compliance with the instructions issued to maintain order and preparedness across educational institutions.
