New Delhi, May 10: The Group of Seven (G7) nations on Saturday urged India and Pakistan to exercise maximum restraint and immediately de-escalate their ongoing military conflict through direct dialogue.
The statement comes amid heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, following the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam. The G7 foreign ministers, along with the EU High Representative, strongly condemned the attack and stressed that further military escalation could seriously threaten regional stability.
Expressing concern for civilian safety on both sides, the G7 emphasized the need for a “swift and lasting diplomatic resolution” and reaffirmed support for peaceful engagement between the two countries.
