MAY 7- At least 12 civilians, including four children and two women, were killed and over 50 injured as Pakistani forces shelled border villages in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. The attacks, targeting areas in Poonch, Rajouri, Baramulla, and Kupwara, came hours after India conducted missile strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack that left 26 civilians dead.

Residents described a night of fear and chaos as shells rained down. “I waited for the shelling to stop to move my family,” said Mohd Arshid of Mankote, among the worst-hit areas.

Authorities evacuated hundreds from vulnerable villages, moving them to safer locations like government buildings and colleges. “There was no shelling in our village, but we were shifted to ITI College as a precaution,” said Liaqat Ali from Jorian near the International Border.
