Ramban, April 26 — Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has dismissed Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s reported statement offering participation in a neutral investigation into the recent Pahalgam terror attack, questioning Islamabad’s credibility on the issue.

Speaking to reporters, Abdullah said, “First of all, they did not even acknowledge that something had happened in Pahalgam. Initially, they alleged that India was behind it. For those who made such accusations against us, it is difficult to place any value on their statements now.”

He further added that he did not want to give much importance to Pakistan’s remarks. “Whatever happened was unfortunate, and it should never have happened,” he said, expressing grief over the attack.

Pakistan’s readiness for a neutral probe comes amid mounting international pressure to address cross-border terrorism. However, Indian officials and political leaders have largely rejected Islamabad’s overtures, citing a history of denial and misinformation.

The Pahalgam terror attack, which took place earlier this week, has sparked widespread condemnation across the country, with demands for stringent action against those responsible.

As of now, investigations into the attack are underway, with Indian security forces tightening surveillance and intelligence operations across the Union Territory.
