Srinagar: A 17-year-old student from Dalaal Mohalla, enrolled at Kashmir Harvard Educational Institute, allegedly died by suicide at his home, sending shockwaves through the local community.
According to family members, the student was publicly humiliated in the school chairman’s office over a tattoo on his arm. Both the chairman and some teachers reportedly subjected him to severe disgrace, which is believed to have caused significant emotional trauma.
MLA of Habba Kadal, Advocate Shamim Firdous, visited the bereaved family to offer condolences and solidarity. She assured them that the incident would be brought to the attention of the Honourable Education Minister and relevant authorities.
Firdous emphasized that strict action would be taken against those responsible for the student’s suffering. She called for accountability within educational institutions, greater sensitivity in handling student issues, and the urgent need for mental health support frameworks in schools.
