SRINAGAR: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel reportedly took his own life by shooting himself with his service rifle in the Dooru area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday morning.
According to officials, the trooper, whose identity has been withheld, was attached to the C/164 Battalion of the CRPF. He allegedly turned his weapon on himself, resulting in his death on the spot.
The reason behind the tragic incident remains unclear, officials said, adding that police have launched inquest proceedings to ascertain the circumstances that led to the suicide.
