Bandipora, Oct 21:
Supporters of Central Kashmir Member of Parliament Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi staged a protest in the Nowgam Sonawari area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Tuesday, following remarks reportedly made by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chowdhary.
According to reports, Chowdhary, while addressing a gathering, stated that he only recognizes Aga Syed Mahmood as the National Conference (NC) leader from Budgam and does not know who Aga Ruhullah is. The statement sparked outrage among Ruhullah’s supporters, who termed the comment as “disrespectful” and “politically motivated.”
Protesters assembled in Nowgam Sonawari, raising slogans in support of Aga Ruhullah and demanding an apology from the Deputy Chief Minister. They alleged that the remark was an attempt to undermine a prominent political figure who has served the people of Kashmir with dedication.
“This is an insult not only to Aga Ruhullah but also to the people who have elected him with faith and respect,” said one of the protesters.
