Kyiv, Ukraine — Russia launched a fresh wave of drone and missile attacks on Ukraine overnight, striking the power grid as freezing temperatures grip the country, Ukrainian officials said Tuesday. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported nearly 300 drones and dozens of missiles fired across eight regions, killing at least four people in the Kharkiv region and leaving hundreds of thousands without electricity around Kyiv.
With temperatures plunging to minus 12°C, the capital faced its worst power outage so far, forcing widespread reliance on generators and leaving more than 500 residential buildings without central heating. The strikes come just days after a similar assault, underscoring mounting pressure on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure as the war nears its fourth year.
