New Delhi, Apr 22: Union Home Minister Amit Shah departed for Srinagar on Tuesday to assess the situation on the ground following a deadly terrorist attack targeting tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, official sources confirmed.
Shah’s visit comes shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally spoke to him and directed him to travel to the Union Territory to oversee the response to the incident.
Accompanying the Home Minister are Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha—who was in the national capital at the time—Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, and other senior officials. They left together on a special flight from Indira Gandhi International Airport.
