Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) vice-president Omar Abdullah on Friday voiced discontent over the lack of progress on the restoration of statehood, saying the assurances made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir remain unfulfilled.
“The expectations we had from this Parliament session have not been met. We will start our process from here. We felt the promises made to us would be implemented,” Abdullah told reporters, referring to the Centre’s earlier commitments on restoring statehood.
The chief minister also commented on the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2025, raising concerns about its selective application. “So far, only opposition leaders have been targeted in the cases filed. If this step is truly about ending corruption, then what impact has the government’s work since 2014 had until now?” he asked.
