SRINAGAR, Tuesday:
The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast a largely dry spell across Jammu and Kashmir till January 15, with changing weather conditions expected from January 16 onwards.
According to the latest weather update issued by the MeT Department, the region will witness mainly dry weather from January 13 to 15. However, a shift in conditions is likely between January 16 and 18, with the possibility of light rain or snowfall at isolated to scattered places.
The forecast further indicates an active weather phase beginning January 19, during which light to moderate rain and snowfall is likely at many places across Jammu and Kashmir. Similar conditions are expected to continue from January 22 to 24, raising the possibility of widespread precipitation, particularly in higher reaches.
From January 25 to 26, the weather is expected to improve, with partly cloudy conditions predicted across the region.
The MeT Department has advised residents, travelers, and authorities to stay alert, especially during the period of expected snowfall, as it may impact road connectivity in mountainous areas. Farmers, commuters, and tourists are also urged to keep track of further updates.
More detailed advisories will be issued as the weather system evolves, officials said.
