Srinagar, Aug 15 — Grief has gripped the Safakadal area of Srinagar after the sudden death of 27-year-old Saba Rasool, a fourth-year MBBS student at Urmia University of Medical Sciences, Iran.

Family members said Saba, known for her academic dedication, had complained of severe pain two days ago and was admitted to a local hospital. Despite treatment, she passed away around 3:00 am on Thursday.

Her family has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for urgent intervention to repatriate her body to Kashmir for burial. “We are devastated and request authorities to expedite the process so we can perform her last rites,” a relative said.

The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association has also written to External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, urging coordination between the Indian Embassy in Tehran and Iranian authorities to ensure the body’s swift return.
