Baramulla, July 19 — The much-awaited Inter-Zonal Kabaddi Tournament commenced today at the Indoor Stadium Baramulla, bringing together 36 teams from 18 educational zones across the district. The tournament was formally inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Baramulla, Syed Altaf Hussain.
In his address, ADC Syed Altaf Hussain emphasized the importance of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and youth development. He lauded the participants and organizers for their enthusiasm and dedication to promoting local talent.
On the occasion, 18 portable microphone systems were also distributed among the Zonal Physical Education Offices to strengthen communication infrastructure and facilitate the smooth conduct of sports activities in various zones.
The tournament, organized under the aegis of the Department of Youth Services and Sports, witnessed a vibrant opening ceremony with the presence of sports officials, coaches, and enthusiastic spectators. Matches are scheduled to continue over the next several days, showcasing the kabaddi prowess of student athletes from across the district.
The event not only aims to identify sporting talent at the grassroots level but also encourages physical fitness and camaraderie among the youth.
