Shillong, June 9 — A honeymoon trip turned tragic in Meghalaya after a tourist from Indore, identified as Raja Raghuvanshi, was allegedly murdered by assailants hired by his wife, police said on Monday.
According to Director General of Police (DGP) I Nongrang, the victim’s wife, Sonam, surrendered to the police in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. She is suspected of orchestrating the murder while the couple was on vacation.
Three other accused were arrested in overnight operations carried out by a Special Investigation Team (SIT). “One person was apprehended from Uttar Pradesh, while two others were picked up from Indore,” the DGP said.
Further investigation is underway to establish the motive behind the crime and the sequence of events leading up to the murder.
