Driver Killed, Two Injured in South Kashmir Road Accident

SRINAGAR, June 9: A driver was killed and two others sustained injuries after a load carrier skidded off the road in the Verinag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday.

An official said the vehicle, bearing registration number JK13B-9592, went off the road under unknown circumstances, resulting in a fatal crash.

The driver, Mohd Iqbal Poswal, son of Bilal Poswal and a resident of Reasi, Jammu, was critically injured and rushed to PHC Verinag, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Two passengers identified as Shahida Parveen of Heward Kapran and Mohd Khalil Chichi of Katra, Jammu, were also injured in the mishap. They were initially treated at PHC Verinag and later referred to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Doru for further medical attention.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident and launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
