In a strong retaliatory move following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 civilians dead, the Indian Armed Forces launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ in the early hours of Wednesday, targeting and destroying nine terror camps located across the Line of Control (LoC) and deep inside Pakistan.During a press briefing in New Delhi, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said the operation was carried out to ensure justice for the victims of the Pahalgam attack and to dismantle the infrastructure behind such acts of terror. “Two weeks have passed since the massacre, yet Pakistan has taken no credible action against terror groups operating from its soil,” Misri remarked.
The precision strikes commenced at approximately 1:44 AM, based on concrete intelligence. All designated targets were successfully neutralized, with no reports of civilian casualties or damage to Indian military assets.
The terror camps hit include: Sawi Nallah, Syedba Bilal, Gulpur, Bhimber, Abbas, Sarjal near Sialkot, Mehmoona Joya, Markaz-e-Toiba in Muridke, and Marka Subhna Allah in Bahawalpur. Notably, the final two sites have alleged links to the perpetrators of the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
Indian officials described the operation as a calibrated and proportionate response, emphasizing that the country remains resolute in its fight against cross-border terrorism.
