THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, May 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Vizhinjam International Seaport in Kerala on Friday, marking a significant milestone in India’s maritime ambitions and positioning the southern state as a key player on the global shipping map.
Strategically located in Thiruvananthapuram, the deep-sea port is set to enhance India’s presence on vital global trade routes. Its operationalization is expected to transform Kerala into a major transshipment hub.
The port has been developed by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ)—India’s largest port developer and a part of the Adani Group—in collaboration with the government under a public-private partnership model.
