Dubai/New Delhi, — An Indian Air Force (IAF) Tejas fighter aircraft crashed during an aerial display at the Dubai Air Show today, resulting in the death of the pilot.
According to an official statement issued by the IAF, the aircraft met with an accident while performing at the prestigious international aviation event. “The pilot sustained fatal injuries in the accident. IAF deeply regrets the loss of life and stands firmly with the bereaved family in this time of grief,” the statement read.
The IAF has ordered a Court of Inquiry to determine the cause of the crash. Further details regarding the nature of the malfunction or the circumstances leading to the incident are awaited.
The Tejas, India’s indigenously developed light combat aircraft, has been a significant symbol of the country’s aerospace capabilities. Its participation in global air shows is aimed at showcasing India’s technological advancements in defence aviation.
