Srinagar, Sep 11: National Conference president and former J&K Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah has criticized the government’s decision to book legislator Mehraj Malik under the Public Safety Act (PSA), calling it harsh and unjustified.Speaking to reporters, Abdullah admitted Malik’s behavior towards the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Doda was inappropriate but said the punishment was excessive. “He made a mistake, but the PSA was wrong. An apology would have sufficed,” he remarked. The move has triggered tension in Doda, prompting curfew and internet suspension. Abdullah urged the government to reconsider the decision, stressing that the district is already struggling with floods. “I also regret the words used against the DC,” he added.
