Srinagar, Oct 23: National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday said that while the use of unparliamentary language by social activist Mehraj Malik against the Deputy Commissioner Doda was inappropriate, invoking the Public Safety Act (PSA) against him was an excessive step.
“Mehraj Malik shouldn’t have used unparliamentary language with the Deputy Commissioner Doda, which is inappropriate, but slapping PSA on him is also wrong,” Dr Abdullah said.
He stressed that the issue could have been resolved through dialogue rather than punitive action. “This matter could have been settled if dialogue had taken place,” he added.
