Srinagar, Oct 23: The opening day of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly saw brief commotion as NC legislators Tanvir Sadiq and Hilal Akbar Lone sought a discussion on the continued detention of Doda MLA Mehraj Malik under the Public Safety Act, arguing that his absence left his constituency unrepresented.
Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather declined the request, stating that the day’s proceedings were reserved for obituary references and advised members to raise the issue later in the session.
