SRINAGAR: Police in Pulwama arrested a man and recovered 16.5 kg of a charas-like substance during a checkpoint operation in Newa on Wednesday.
Officials said a police team stopped the suspect, identified as Rafiq Ahmad Shah, son of Bashir Ahmad Shah of Newa, and recovered the contraband during a search. He was arrested on the spot.
A case has been registered at Police Station Pulwama, and investigations are underway to trace the source and distribution network of the seized material.
