NEW DELHI, June 4: A Delhi court has convicted a man for the abduction and murder of a 21-year-old Delhi University student and for attempting to destroy evidence related to the crime.

Additional Sessions Judge Swati Gupta convicted Ishtiaque Ali in connection with the 2018 kidnapping and murder of Ayush Nautiyal, a third-year student at Ram Lal Anand College.

In an order dated May 30, the court held that the prosecution had successfully established the accused’s guilt beyond reasonable doubt through a complete and credible chain of circumstantial evidence.

“Upon a detailed analysis of the oral and documentary evidence on record, it can safely be concluded that the prosecution has successfully proved the chain of circumstances beyond reasonable doubt in the present case,” the court observed.
