New Delhi, May 24: A Delhi court on Sunday sent accused Shubham Khairnar to judicial custody till June 6 in connection with the NEET paper leak case.
Special Judge Ruchi Aggarwal allowed the plea moved by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which sought judicial custody of the accused as part of its ongoing investigation into the alleged examination paper leak racket.
Khairnar was earlier remanded to CBI custody along with four other accused on May 14 for a period of seven days. While granting the agency’s request at the time, the court observed that the allegations pointed towards the involvement of an “organised gang” engaged in leaking and circulating confidential examination papers in exchange for monetary benefits.
The case pertains to the alleged leak of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) examination paper, which triggered nationwide concern over the integrity of one of India’s most competitive medical entrance examinations.
The CBI is continuing its probe into the matter to identify the wider network and determine the extent of the alleged conspiracy.
