May 11- The Congress on Sunday demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi convene an all-party meeting and call a special session of Parliament to deliberate on the recent Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, and the evolving ceasefire arrangement between India and Pakistan.
In a post on X, the party reiterated its call for “an all-party meeting chaired by the Prime Minister and a special Parliament session for a comprehensive discussion” on the aforementioned issues, including the ceasefire announcements made initially in Washington, D.C., and later echoed by both New Delhi and Islamabad.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh, in a series of posts, raised critical questions regarding the nature of the ceasefire agreement. He sought clarity on whether the development marked a shift in India’s long-standing position of rejecting third-party mediation in its bilateral relations with Pakistan. Ramesh also questioned whether diplomatic backchannels had been reopened and if the Simla Agreement had been effectively sidelined in this new approach.
