SRINAGAR – The Indian Army has initiated an inquiry following reports that some individuals were allegedly mistreated by soldiers during an operation in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued on Friday, an Army spokesperson said the incident occurred during a search operation that was launched after receiving intelligence about suspected militant movement in a vehicle in the area.
“Initial findings suggest that when the vehicle was stopped for checking, one person reportedly tried to snatch a soldier’s weapon, which led to a confrontation,” the statement noted.
The Army assured that the matter is being thoroughly investigated and that disciplinary action will be taken if any personnel are found to have violated conduct guidelines.
Reiterating its commitment to professionalism and ethical standards in counter-insurgency operations, the Army appealed to the public to maintain cooperation with the forces to ensure peace and security in the region.
