January 17– Anantnag Police on Saturday arrested an alleged drug peddler during a routine naka checking at Bangidar Bridge and recovered a substantial quantity of contraband from his possession.
According to officials, the accused has been identified as Faizan Ahmad Bhat alias Gafoor. During the checking, police recovered 438 grams of charas, following which the individual was taken into custody on the spot.
A case FIR No. 12/2026 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the concerned police station, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended distribution network of the seized contraband.
