Snowfall Disrupts Traffic as Valley Hosts U-19 National Football Tournament

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday welcomed young footballers from across India arriving in the Valley for the National School Games (U-19 Football Tournament), assuring full support despite harsh weather conditions.Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gurez, Mukhtar Ahmad, said the 84-km Bandipora–Gurez road has been closed due to fresh snowfall in higher reaches. “Traffic movement has been halted as a precaution and will resume once conditions improve,” he said.Snowfall has also been reported at Zojila and Sonamarg, with officials warning that continued snowfall could lead to suspension of traffic on the Srinagar–Leh highway.
