The Delhi Police Crime Branch has busted an organised network involved in the illegal printing and supply of counterfeit NCERT textbooks, recovering a total of 44,862 fake books valued at approximately ₹2 crore.

During further investigation, a Crime Branch team, along with authorised representatives of NCERT, conducted a raid on January 16, 2026, in Village Jawli, Loni, Ghaziabad, leading to the arrest of Sumit. Police found that the accused was operating an illegal printing factory near Ristal Road Puliya, which served as a major source of pirated NCERT textbooks.

From the premises, 32,107 duplicate NCERT books were seized, along with two offset printing press machines, paper reels, printing ink, and aluminium printing plates used in the production of counterfeit textbooks. The illegally printed books were being supplied to previously arrested accused Kanishq and Vinod Jain.

Further investigation in the case is ongoing.
